A few things we know to be true today:

1. The vast majority of people in the USA feel powerless to make real change

2. A large number of men and older teenage boys feel directionless and insecure about their role in society

3. The firearms industry has been marketing guns as a source of power and security for decades, on top of very specific messaging about masculinity being represented by the size and power of one's firearms.

Nobody in this country, regardless of political affiliation, seems to disagree with these three facts. And still we continue to be perplexed when men go out and kill strangers using guns.

I'm so far past "the emperor has no clothes" that I don't even know what to say anymore.
